ALABAMA 3 PRESENT OUTLAW
The Guardian has called them ‘the best live band in the country’.

Time Out wrote of them that ‘they swing like the devil’s own dick. Alabama 3 beat a righteous drum and party like bastards.’

Their music has graced everything from ‘The Sopranos’ to ‘The Simpsons’, and they can boast a host of celebrity fans. Irvine Welsh, author of ‘Trainspotting’ describes Alabama 3 as “the first band I could ever dance to in the daytime hours without chemical assistance…” and the world’s biggest selling author, Stephen King, has twice invited them to play an acoustic set at his book launches.

They are undoubtedly ‘the greatest American act the UK ever produced ’ and their heady combination of techno, country and blues, alongside a proclivity for rock ‘n’ roll decadence and an acute social conscience, makes them a unique entity in modern music.

Keyboard player The Spirit of Love/aka Orlando Harrison (whose Tour Diaries were serialised in ‘The Independent’) describes them thus:
“We’re the Alabama 3. We make Sweet Muthafuckin Country Acid House Music. All night long. We’re from Brixton, London. Alabama 3 is a pop band, a punk rock, blues and country techno situationist crypto-Marxist-Leninist electro band. We never needed a self-appointed quango of jaded vampires to tell us how to sing the blues…we got Mojo. We have the power to raise the dead.”

PARTY TIME!

For the last three years Alabama 3 have been hosting a regular (and very irregular) party weekend, running over two nights in Lewisham and Brixton.

‘Outlaw’ is not just another club night. It is an event, a happening - never to be repeated and not to be missed.
Each month is a veritable banquet for music lovers of all ages, musical tastes and backgrounds and from all across the country.

THE LIVE ROOM

In the live room a host of new and exciting young bands perform music reflecting the varied genres that Alabama 3 have embraced in their own work – expect live acts performing country, blues, funk, punk and dirty old rock n roll, all cut with an alternative edge, and seamlessly brought together by our regular DJs playing grooves that keep the audience on the floor between acts. Expect cabaret and performance artists. Expect the unexpected…
The live show is headlined by Alabama 3 Acoustic and Unplugged, the acclaimed four-piece outfit who bring a whole new dimension to the songs made famous by Alabama 3.

This isn’t acid house music, this is country/gospel/delta blues, but played with a rhythm you’ve still got to dance to.

“The ghost of Mississippi Fred McDowell haunting the fingers of Rock Freebase on guitar, Larry Love’s larynx looser than Howlin’ Wolf. Devlin Love’s vocals as sweet as Sister Rosetta and Harpo Strangelove’s harmonica cooking up a Sonny Terry vibe - welcome to the Delta Blues alive and kicking in 2008”

THE DANCE ROOM

In the dance room the tempo is kept to the max, all night long. As well as a variety of guest DJ’s, Alabama 3’s own Rev D Wayne Love takes to the decks at each ‘Outlaw’, as does their ever popular tour DJ Tattoo John, who has been playing with the band since their inception. Larry Love and other members of the band often join them, playing tunes, or rapping with the DJs. The dance floor stays packed and lively until the early morning hours.
This is Alabama 3’s party night: why not join in the fun?
