After February’s madness, Deptford Northern Soul Club are back for their bi-monthly residency at Brixton Jamm with Colin Curtis. Expect the hardest and fastest soul music spun by a selection of the best young Soul DJs in London and very special guests.
When you consider how fast the DJ’ing world is moving these days, 50 years in the game is a ludicrous thing to contemplate. Having lived, danced and DJ’d through the eras of Northern Soul, jazz-funk jazz -dance and house, few can claim to have shaped UK dance music more than Colin Curtis. He continues to push new black music in all its guises as today’s music is tomorrows history!
Formed in November 2016 by lifelong friends William Foot and Lewis Henderson, Deptford Northern Soul Club have earned a reputation as promoters and DJ’s in their own right.
Refusing to bow to the pretence often associated with the Northern Soul scene, Deptford Northern Soul Club offer something different, throwing gimmick free parties across the UK & Ireland, DNSC aims to bring together the next generation of Northern Soul lovers. On the back of the DNSC’s sold out debut in Bunker Club (Deptford, London) back in November 2016 the boys secured a monthly residency at the club. Making a name for themselves DNSC used their residency to give a platform to the best and most exciting young Soul DJs London has to offer.
In June 2017, Deptford Northern Soul Club took the party to Glastonbury Festival, playing to a packed William’s Green tent and featured as the 20th best pick at the festival. The rest of Summer 2017 saw appearances at Peckham Soul, Deptford Pride, End Of The Road Festival & supporting Norman Jay MBE at his Good Times Goes East Carnival Party.
In Winter 2017 the party went on the road again highlighted by a support slot for The Manic Street Preachers and Sleaford Mods at The Roundhouse in Camden (London); with stops in Cambridge, Liverpool, Belfast, Dublin, Todmorden and Ilkley before a sold out New Years Eve party back in Deptford’s own Bunker Club.
2018 has taken the boys to new heights, boasting nights at Notting Hill Arts Club (London), Corsica Studios (London), SET (London), The Junction (Cambridge) and with a return to the Menagerie (Belfast); all before heading to Green Man Festival to play to a packed out crowd of well over 1.5k for the highly coveted After Dark slot at The Walled Garden Stage.
