DJ Yoda back at Jamm! // 22-11-2011

"I'm of the MTV generation of kids with short attention spans," confesses Yoda. "I love to take the funniest moments from movies, music, computer games, radio even myself brushing my teeth."

London resident Duncan Beiny AKA DJ YODA has rightly earned his reputation one of hip hop's most unique characters. His mash ups present an original mash up of hip hop, pop culture, times past and times present. They are often coated in the right amont of bad taste and a silly amount of hilarity.  His mind is a wild ocean of hip hop reaching back to the annals of hip hop BC to present day. As contributor and co-editor of Fat Lace Magazine and IDJ, Yoda demonstrates an incredible ability as a purveyor and historian of his subject, in ways that are sometimes described as bordering on 'autistic'.

In 2001 he won a DJ of the Year award and was one of six  nominees for the best UK hip hop DJ. His story is inspirational to all trying to get their big break, Yoda just worked hard until he started getting noticed. He began releasing underground deos to independent music shop and was finally approached by Antidote Records to create a mixtape on their behalf. How To Cut and Paste a Mix Tape Vol 1 found its first beginnings.

His debut album The Amazing Adventures of DJ Yoda in 2006 was critically acclamed over the globe and featured guests as prestigious of Biz Markie, Sway, Ugly Duckling, MC Paul Barman and saw him scratch for Dangermouse. As if he wasn't busy enough changing the face of hip hop globally, he is a regular guest on BBC Radio 1, appearing alongside Annie Mac and Steve Lamacq which in turn saw him nominated in 2009 for a Sony Radio Academy Award.

If you missed his Christmas set here in Jamm last year, you missed out on an amazing night of perfectly complimenting tracks mixed with the zaniest remixes I have ever been unable to stop dancing to. Make sure you don't miss out on this one as its bound to get INSANE!
