As we approach the end of this month we’ve decided to look back at what has been happening over the last few weeks here at Jamm. It seems we waited for summer to finally arrive and then we got 3 months worth in the space of less than a week, although we’re not complaining about July’s mini heat-wave and temperatures in the 30’s as it made the parties we hosted even better! It’s been a busy month here at Jamm so lets check out what has been happening so far…
We started the month in fine style as Soundwave Festival teamed up with The Origins to host a day and night summer party in celebration of the launch of the festival in just a few weeks time out in Croatia.
The day involved live band performances, DJ’s on our newly refurbished Terrace and Courtyard, a BBQ, live dancers and glitter and make-up artists. The headliner for the day was the incredible Dawn Penn, whose early evening performance on the Terrace will be remembered by those of us in attendance for a long time!
There was also a brilliant live performance by Normanton Street who no doubt converted many of us into fans of the band. We also had some hugely talented DJ’s in our company throughout the day and night, such as The Menendez Brothers, Emerald, Wayward and Benson Herbert.
We also held a party to celebate the life of a great friend, Tenor Fly.
Joining us at Jamm for this special occasion was Congo Natty and other family members, who gathered on the day of Tenor’s birthday, to pay tribute to him and celebrating a life that touched so many. The event was a touching tribute and deservedly so for such a fantastic man. All donations collected were for Tenor’s daughter, to help her through this difficult time. It is important to us that she knows a wider family exists – a community to offer support and who will help her through this difficult time. Thank you to everyone who got involved.
The sun was shining for Channel One’s summer BBQ whilst the cocktails were flowing and the dub-plates were playing!
As always Channel One Soundsystem brought along their incredible speaker stack. This is a legendary fixture in the Jamm calendar and this time we had Dubkasm, Geode and Shere Khan joining the Channel One crew.
Following May’s sold out event, Garage Juice returned with their resident DJs Artful Dodger, DJ Luck & MC Neat and Oxide & Neutrino playing all of your all-time old-skool favourites. As expected this event went off, the energy and vibe those guys bring to the dancefloor is incredible. We’re already looking forwards to the next one!
Having had some of the hottest day’s of the year recently it was no wonder people wanted to get down to Shut The Front Door’s summer disco fiesta! Once again the sun was shining and the drinks were flowing as a sold out Brixton Jamm hosted some incredible DJ’s throughout the day and deep into the early hours. Italian house & disco selectors Tiger & Woods were the headline act along with Dr Packer and The Revenge. With support coming from local promotors and friends of Jamm, it was a brilliant event and we can’t wait to see what’s next from the Shut The Front Door crew!
